I want to be clear, buying options is riskier than writing options. When you buy an option it costs money and will expire, the stock has to move in the right direction, fast enough and before the expiration date in order for you to make money. And when the stock gets volatile, the stock option costs more to buy and it has to move up (or down if a put) even more to make up for the lost cost of it’s premium price.
